Here are a sample of groups doing vibrant and powerful work in the lgbt communities. Your involvement will not only make a clear and strong statement of support to your newly out person, you'll feel better and you will be making the world a much, much better place.

Straight for Equality Straight for Equality is a national outreach and education project to empower allies in supporting and advocating for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people. PFLAG PFLAG, Parents, Families & Friends of Lesbians & Gays is a national organization with over 200,000 members and supporters and over 500 affiliates in this country. See especially the PFLAG guide for Straight Allies and the link to local chapters. Find it on the internet, visit a local meeting. You'll be glad you did. GLAAD Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation. GLAAD expands the representation of the lgbt communities through effective and forceful advocacy, education and visibility through media work. Their website also supports allies with information, education and ideas. Welcoming Resources A directory is provided by the Institute for Welcoming Resources with a listing of church congregations that are welcoming. Information is provided for International Welcoming Church Sunday. HRC The Human Rights Campaign is the largest national LGBT civil rights organization. HRC envisions an America were LGBT people are ensured of basic, equal rights and can be open, honest and safe at home, at work and in the community. GLSEN Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network is the leading national education organization focused on ensuring safe schools for ALL students. Many cities have local GLSEN chapters or Safe School projects. Lambda Legal Lambda Legal is a national organization committed to achieving full recognition of the civil rights of lgbt people through litigation, education and public policy work. Task Force The National Gay & Lesbian Task Force provides activist training to advance pro-LGBT legislation and defeat anti-LGBT legislation. Local information and updates are provided. The Policy Institute works for equality and counters right wing lies. Out & Equal Out & Equal Workplace Advocates is the pre-eminent national organization devoted to the LGBT community in the workplace. Victory The Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund is the nation's largest LGBT political action committee and the only national organization dedicated to increasing the number of openly LGBT elected officials at all levels of government. Soul Force Soul Force is committed to freedom for LGBT people from religious and political oppression through the practice of relentless nonviolent resistance. Guided by principles of Gandhi and Martin Luther King, Jr., compelling religious material is provided. NCTE The National Center for Transgender Equality, NCTE, is a social justice organization dedicated to advancing the equality of transgender people through advocacy, collaboration and empowerment.

Resources for and about children of lgbt follow. The camp experiences are outstanding for children of lgbt, some camps include camp time for lgbt children and teenagers.

Colage	This is the only national organization with the sole purpose of supporting the children of lgbt parents. In the US alone, there are over ten million children with an lgbt parent.
Rainbow Rumpus	Rainbow Rumpus in an online magazine for youth and children with an LGBT parent.
Dotties Magic Pockets	Dotties Magic Pockets is a television show for children with LGBT parents.
Rainbow Families	Annual conference for LGBT parents and their children in Minnesota.
Camp Ten Trees	Camps in the Pacific Northwest for LGBTQ youth and their allies and for chjildren of LGBT parents.
UCC Camp	Wisconsin camps for families with an lgbt parent and for PFLAG families.
Camp Keshet	A Jewish LGBT family camp in California.
Camp Ten Oaks	A camp program in Ottawa ON for campers 8-17 -- children of lgbt, lgbt youth and their allies.
Mountain Meadows	In Southern New Jersey, a children of lgbt parents camp program serving 9-12 year olds, 14-15 year olds and 16-17 year old counselor in training programs.
